Brad Pitt: 'My priority is being a dad'

Brad Pitt has said that being a good father to his and Angelina Jolie's children is his top priority in life.

The actor, who got engaged to Jolie in April, explained why he is choosing to take on fewer acting roles these days in a chat with The AP.

"Right now, I'm just attracted to being a dad," Pitt said. "Film-wise, we get to do this thing and I feel very fortunate to get to do this. So I want to contribute to the art form. I think the films have to speak to our time and be authentic in their approach."

Pitt went on to say that taking time away from acting actually serves to fuel his passion for his work.

"You need time off to refuel and to be inspired again. There's no greater inspiration than family," he commented.

The actor will next star in Killing Them Softly, opening in the US and UK on September 21.
