Brad Pitt Donates $100K to Gay Marriage Cause: His Other Big Charitable Causes

As one of the biggest stars in the world, it's no surprise that Brad Pitt is also one of the most active philanthropists. The star has used his fame and fortune for good once again, this time donating $100,000 to the Human Rights Campaign. The money will help the organization promote the cause for gay marriage in several states. In recent years, Brad has been sensitive to the gay marriage fight. In addition to donating money for similar causes in the past, he has lent his voice and time to the fight for gay marriage. He also famously said that he wouldn't marry Angelina Jolie until everyone had equal marriage rights. While this is definitely one of Brad's most visible charitable efforts, it's far from the only one. Here are a few other philanthropic causes that Brad has been involved with over the years.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation

In 2006, Brad and his bride-to-be Angelina launched this group, which is dedicated to humanitarian causes throughout the world. At its initial launch, the foundation donated $1 million each to two prominent charities. Since its first year, the foundation has given away millions of dollars for causes ranging from earthquake recovery to childr! en's work in Cambodia. Together, Brad and Angie have forked over plenty of their own money to help others around the world.

The Make It Right Foundation

Hurricane Katrina triggered many celebs to take action, and Brad was no exception. He founded this charitable group after the hurricane ravaged the poorer areas of New Orleans. The initial goal was to rebuild 150 homes in the city's Ninth Ward. At the time of the initial announcement, Brad pledged to match up to $5 million in donations. The cause proved to be successful, and the first homes were rebuilt in 2008.

Work in Africa

Brad has been one of the most active celebrities when it comes to Africa. He has given plenty of time and money to helping impoverished people in certain African nations. He and Angelina have donated money to the ongoing cause in the Darfur region, and he has also done work in combating AIDS in the region. In addition, he and some of his "Ocean's Eleven" co-stars founded Not On Our Watch, a group dedicated to stopping mass atrocities.
