Brad Pitt does, would you?

Comfort clothing takes on a new meaning with the onesie. Traditionally, a one-piece garment meant for an infant and worn over the diaper, this snug apparel has become a fashion must-have. The onesie has been sported by stylish celebs such as Rihanna, Kate Moss, Cheryl Cole and Heidi Klum. And its not just the women who are giving in to the trend; actor Brad Pitt and boyband One Direction too were seen flaunting their onesies while out running errands. International brands like ASOS, Debenhams, River Island and New Look have been cashing in on the fad, and even Daks, reworked the one-piece in a tuxedo form with luxe wool at the London Fashion Week. However, it has had its detractors and been voted one of the most unattractive fashion trends.

Would male designers here be willing to experiment with the trend? Designer Nachiket Barve says he would never try it. My personal style is more classic and understated. Frankly, I think onesies shouldnt be worn by anyone, unless Teletubbies are your fashion icon or youre dressing for Halloween. Like jumpsuits, these are not practical for wearing all day long. They look like kidswear upsized and only make sense if you have have someone to change and care for you. Id say its a complete fashion no-no!

Onesies are definitely relaxing and comfortable, says Narendra Kumar, but the experimentive designer admits theyre not for him. Onesies are so 1980s, I wouldnt be caught dead in them. I guess theyve become popular since people are tired of wearing the same garments, and are looking for something different. You need the right physique and cuts to pull it off and I definitely dont have it, he adds.

This is just a passing fad, feels designer Gaviin Miguel. I wouldnt be comfortable wearing a onesie. I guess Brad Pitt could pull it off, since his fashion style is more asexual. Hes at the moment in the mood for experimentation and a onesie is one way to make a statement, says Gaviin.
