Fury is set in the waning days of World War IIs European theater and revolves around the five-man crew of an American tank named Fury that runs across a desperate German division.

Bill Block, John Lesher and Ethan Smith are producing.

When QED picked up the project as a spec script from Ayer in February, the company and Ayer said the intent was to make a war movie for modern au! diences that explored battlefield heroics in an honest way.

If a deal closes with Pitt, who will anchor the project, it will pave the way for Ayer to nab other high-caliber actors for the ensemble. The process is similar to how Pitt anchored another World War II project, Quentin Tarantinos Inglourious Basterds.
