Brad Pitt producing NZer's Monroe biopic

Brad Pitt has stepped in as producer to help New Zealand born director Andrew Dominik get his long-delayed Marilyn Monroe movie off the ground.

Australian actor Naomi Watts was slated to play the iconic bombshell in Dominik's biopic "Blonde", which stalled before shooting began in January 2011.

But Pitt is now set to give new life to the Monroe film by signing up to produce the movie through his Plan B production company, although he has yet to decide whether he will take on an acting role.

Pitt previously worked with Dominik on "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford", and gangster thriller "Killing Them Softly" which was in competition for the Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

He told movie industry website 24 Frames: "We're going to get this one done."

Dominik, who lives in Melbourne, rose to fame with his first feature "Chopper", about notorious ex-criminal Mark Read.
