Brad Pitt's 'World War Z' script to get rewrite from Damon Lindelof
The zombie movie World War Z, which has had a troubled production, is now getting a rewrite.
Paramount Pictures, the movies distributor, has enlisted screenwriter Damon Lindelof to rework the script. It is the studios hope that reshoots will begin in the fall.
The big-budget film began shooting in 2011 in Budapest. It stars Brad Pitt, who is also one of its producers, as a United Nations employee who must combat zombies taking over the world.
Its release date has already been pushed back from December to June 21, 2013. Since then, the British press has reported extensive reshoots taking place over seven weeks, which is longer than usual for most films. Many films are completed during that period.
Lindelof, who is known as one of the creators of the series Lost as well as a writer on the recent release Prometheus, will reportedly be working on the films third act. He is also set to write the upcoming Star Trek movie.
Matthew Michael Carnahan wrote the initial draft of the script.
The film, based on the novel by Max Brooks, also stars Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale and Anthony Mackie. Marc Forster is directing the picture. He previously directed the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
