Brad Pitt's '12 Years a Slave' gets under way in NOLA, one of a dozen in-state film projects
Brad Pitt's feature-film adaptation of "12 Years a Slave"-- the memoir of Solomon Northup, a free man of color who was kidnapped and sold into slavery in shortly before the Civil War-- started production in New Orleans this week. Directed by Steve McQueen ("Shame"), it starsChiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Pitt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Paul Giamatti and Alfre Woodard.
The film, which Pitt is also producing, is one of a handful of feature films either shooting, or preparing to shoot, in Louisiana, according to the most recent listing by the state film office. Here's the full listing, including job-inquiry info, compliments of Louisiana Entertainment.
