Brad Pitts Charity to Create New Center in Green Impact Zone

KANSAS CITY, Mo. The charitable foundation of actor Brad Pitt, Make it Right, is making a contribution to an old school in the Kansas City urban core to help bring it back to life with a whole new purpose.

Make it Right is donating $2.3 million to turn Bancroft School at 43rd and Tracy into housing units and a community center. The new center will include low income housing, a medical center, a gym, and other places for job training and neighborhood activities. Bancroft sat empty for more than a decade, so neighbors like Lester Jackson are excited to see new life.

Living here, this long, its wonderful for me, Jackson says.

Public moneys also funding this project as federal tax credits and low income housing tax credits will help fund the new center.
