Brad Pitt may be one of Hollywood's most potent names, as his appearance in a film these days is a rare seal of approval that can mean both critical and commercial success, but even that isn't enough to guarantee the big bucks, according to the man himself.

Brad explained to the BBC that the days when tinseltown's big names could command astronomical fees for their services are long gone, as even Hollywood's been hit by recession.

Brad said: "You take the roles for the roles," adding: "Yeah, that thing [earning big amounts] died and you've just got to balance economics like everyone does."

While we're not sure that Hollywood's A-List are quite on minimum wage yet, the fees that the world's top actors are down from the high of three-four years ago (filming will have taken place before 2008's economic crash) when Harrison Ford raked in a reported $68m for his role in 'Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull'.

However far from getting annoyed about the fact that his earning power has diminished, Brad likes the fact that Hollywood is less focused on big fees, saying: "A lot of the studios have been challenged because of the economic downturn as well so they've been betting on bigger, more tent pole kinds of things."

He also added: "At the s! ame time that opens up a vacuum for really interesting new filmmakers to come in."

It seems that the actor likes the fact that outside guaranteed money-spinners like Batman and 'The Avengers' the field is open for smaller films to get funding and recognition, even if that means he can't rake in the amounts he might of in the goodd times.
