Brad Pitt: Why my mother is wrong about Barack Obama and gay marriage

Brad Pitt's mother, Jane, threw her support behind Mitt Romney earlier this year, criticising Barack Obama for his liberal views on same-sex marriage. However, the Hollywood star tells Mandrake that the American president retains his vote.

I am an Obama supporter and Im backing his election campaign, Pitt says at a screening of his forthcoming film Killing Them Softly, at the Mayfair Hotel in London. Gay marriage is inevitable. The next generation, they get it. It is just a matter of time before it becomes a reality.

Olympic freebies revealed

While thousands of sports fans were unable to buy tickets for the Olympics, MPs had no such problems. Nineteen of them have so far declared that they received free entry.

John Bercow, the House of Commons Speaker, attended as a guest of the London 2012 organising committee, as did several others. Diane Abbott received tickets from three different organisations, worth a total of 845, while the Tory John Stevenson enjoyed hospitality worth an astonishing 5,500 from the Swiss food giant Nestl.
