Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were the third set of superstar celebrities to make Las Vegas their playground for three days in this final weekend before Christmas:
*It began Thursday with the invasion of the Kardashian Klan for the official opening of their celebr! ity life style boutique Kardashian Khaos at the Mirage.
*Pop queen Britney Spears followed on Friday celebrating her engagement to agent Jason Trawick and his 40th birthday at Planet Hollywood and Paris.
*Then last night, as I first tweeted (@Robin_Leach) late Friday, Brad, Angelina and their six children arrived at the Four Seasons. Once settled, they made the short trek to Cirque du Soleils Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour at Mandalay Bay.
Today, Brad celebrates his 48th birthday here before they board a private jet back to their new California home. The power couple recently sold his Malibu mansion for $12 million to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. The beachfront property, originally listed for $14 million, was where Brad and ex-wife Jennifer Aniston once resided.
Under extraordinary security and a phalanx of burly bodyguards, Brad and Angelina declined limousines to make the 5-minute walk between the two hotels. Angelina and Brad held hands with their children.
All six of their children traveled here, but it was the four eldest who attended the early performance of Immortal at Mandalay Bay Events Center: Shiloh, 5; Zahara, 6; Pax, 7; and Maddox, 10. Although not married, Angelina, 36, legally changed her name to Jolie-Pitt when they adopted then-3-year-old Pax in Vietnam.
Their first daughter together, Shiloh, was born in Namibia, and the $8.5 million they collected from her first photographs went to charities caring for African children. Their youngest twins, 3-year-old son Knox and daughter Vivienne born in July 2008, stayed back at the Four Seasons with their nannies. Photographs of them sold for $14 million -- the most expensive baby celebrity shots ever taken -- with the couple donating it to charity.
They sat in the second row from the lower second stage of the spectacular. Brad, with longish hair and glasses, wore jeans and a blac! k jacket , while Angelina wore a light gray dress under a long black coat.
Our Vegas DeLuxe spywitness told me: They enjoyed the performance and stayed until the very end rather than sneaking out at the curtain close. They joined the crowd during the final standing ovation. It didnt look as if the cast knew the Hollywood couple was there until they heard the buzz in the audience.
It hadnt been announced to them beforehand, so they gave a little nod and a bow in their direction at the end. Brad and Angelina were applauding and smiling ear to ear with their children, who loved the show. Then they quietly left to walk back to the Four Seasons.
No official photographs were taken of the couple at Immortal, but several paparazzi snapped shots on their walk but were quickly removed by the security team. I was reliably told that it was the largest set of bodyguard protection ever seen for visiting Hollywood celebrities.
After todays double performances, Immortal is dark for three days as the cast relocates to Los Angeles for three days of taping this weeks final episode of The X Factors debut season with Simon Cowell and Paul Abdul. Immortal resumes here Thursday through Dec. 27.
After three weeks of hitting No. 1 in North American box office ticket sales with an average nightly gate of $2 million for each performance, Immortal heads into its final performances here before departing for Phoenix and then continuing its North American tour through next September before a 2-year global tour begins. The new Michael Jackson residency show is set to open at Mandalay Bay in May 2013. Demolition work on The Lion King theater at Mandalay Bay begins after its final performance Dec. 30.
There were unconfirmed rumors last night that Brad, Angelina and their children would attend The Lion King today before returning to California. This is Brads first visit with the entire family ! to Las V egas.
