Brad Pitt's parents have said that they are "very proud" of his partner Angelina Jolie.

Bill and Jane Pitt attended Monday (December 5) night's premiere of Jolie's directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey, People reports.

"It means everything," Jolie said of having her partner's parents by her side. "I couldn't be standing here without them."

Pitt's parents went on to praise Jolie for being a "really good mum".

The actress credited Pitt with helping her to shoot the Bosnian drama.

"I have a wonderful partner in Brad and we take turns working always," she said. "So I was with the kids when he shot Moneyball, and when he finished he took a few months off while I was shooting this."

Last month, Jolie confessed that she originally wanted to be a funeral director, saying that her disappointment with her grandfather's funeral almost inspired her to be an undertaker.

Pitt and Jolie are rumoured to be adopting a seventh child.

In the Land of Blood and Honey will open in US cinemas on December 23. Details of a UK release are yet to be confirmed.
