The (Unofficial) Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Guide to Cannes
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Ramey
Newly engaged super-couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are set to attend the upcoming 65th annual Cannes Film Festival. The two-week festival kicks off May 16 on the French Riviera, where Pitt will be promoting his upcoming crime thriller Killing Them Softly.
The famed festival is a favorite destination for the pair: They have attended together every year for the past five years with the exception of 2010. While they always spark a flashbulb frenzy on the red carpet this year more than ever, thanks to that engagement sparkler in the past they have also made time for family activities and date nights.
As Jolie told PEOPLE in 2008, when she was promoting her Clint Eastwood drama The Changeling: "It's always a good time and there's always something silly that goes on. Cannes is fun."
Here's how to do Cannes the Jolie-Pitt way:
STAY IN THE LAP OF LUXURYAlthough the couple owns an estate, Chateau Miraval, in nearby Correns just east of Johnny Depp's French home they typically stay at a private cha! let on t he grounds of the ultra-exclusive Hotel du Cap Eden Roc. The glamorous five-star hotel once a favorite of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald and now frequented by everyone from Bill Clinton to Gwyneth Paltrow housed the Jolie-Pitt family as recently as last year, when Pitt was promoting his Terrence Malick drama The Tree of Life and Jolie was premiering Kung Fu Panda 2. But in 2008, when Jolie was pregnant with twins Knox and Vivienne, the family opted for even greater privacy, staying at the historic Villa Maryland, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's French estate.
COME TO SHOP FOR THE KIDSAlthough the French Riviera is famous for its high-end designer shops, the Jolie-Pitts prefer to keep their retail excursions kid-focused. In 2008 the couple hit Toys R Us (yes, there's one in Cannes!) along with Bonpoint, the French children's wear couture house, where they shopped for dresses for daughters Zahara and Shiloh and picked out "only white, white, white" for their then-soon-to-be-born twins. (At the time, Knox and Vivienne's genders were still a closely guarded secret.)

We can't wait to see where the power couple goes during their Cannes visit this year. Time to trade Toys R Us for a bridal boutique?
