Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Drawn Into Phone Hacking Scandal
So far the News of the World's phone hacking scandal has engulfed celebrities from Hugh Grant to Sienna Miller but if the latest reports are to be believed, Hollywood heavyweights Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have now been caught up in the drama.
Whilst so far the scandal, which is being investigated by the ongoing Leveson Inquiry, has mainly centered around British names Brangelina have apparently been included on alist of "23 newsworthy individuals" alleged to have been targeted by two senior NOTW reporters.
The reporters in question are Neville Thurlbeck and James Weatherup, who were among eight people connected to the newspaper who were charged on Tuesday (July 24) with "conspiring to intercept communications without lawful authority."
The Independent claim that an item on the prosecutors' charge sheet for the pair, includes theclaim that Thurlbeck and Weatherup conspired to hack "the voicemail messages of persons associated with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who included Eunice Huthart."
Huthart is a stunt coordinator who has frequently doubled for Angelina. According to the charge sheet, the alleged hacking is said to have taken place around the time Angie and Brad were filming their now infamous movie 'Mr and Mrs Smith'. It was whilst shooting the 2005 thriller that the couple fell in love, therefore any messages hacked by the paper could have proved pretty interesting!
Tellingly perhaps, the film was produced and distributed by 20th Century Fox, which, like News of the World, is owned by News Corp. We'd love to see Angie take on those reporters!
