Brad Pitt's Mother Jane In 'Anti-Gay' Storm

A newspaper has been forced to clarify that an anti-gay letter they published from a reader by the name of Jane Pitt was not the mother of Hollywood A-Lister Brad.

The note, as seen in Springfield's News-Leader, backed Republican Mitt Romney's conservative views on homosexuality over Barack Obama's support of same-sex marriage.

Responding to another reader who had urged Americans to ignore Romney because of his Mormon beliefs, Jane Pitt said: "I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon."

The view is the polar opposite to that of Brad Pitt - whose mother is also called Jane.

Brad has been openly supportive of same-sex marriage and even once claimed he and Angelina Jolie would refrain from tieing the knot themselves until the right was available to everyone.

"No state should decide who can marry and who cannot," he said last year.

After a brief storm over the name mix-up, E! Online clarified that the Jane Pitt who wrote in was not the same Jane Pitt who gave birth to the star of 'The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button'.

And there you have it.
