AllEarth Renewables has teamed up with Brad Pitts Make It Right Foundation and rapper Lil Wayne to light up a skate park in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans.

The Williston, Vt.-based maker of solar trackers worked with Joulie Solar Energy in Louisiana to install AllEarths pole-mounted dual axis AllSun Tracker system, which uses wireless technology and GPS to follow the suns rays during the day and produce power for the skate park and community center.

AllEarths 6 kilowatt solar tracker will ultimately produce more than 10,000 kilowatt-hours per year, and supply energy for the community center and skate parks lighting fans and computers, according to the company.

The company teamed up with the foundation, which builds homes for those in need, and Wayne, who is a skater, to help bring power to the center and park located in area flooded by Hurricane Katrina.

We are thrilled to have an AllSun Tracker both providing a source of affordable renewable energy and a symbol of sustainability in a Ward hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina, AllEarth Renewables Founder and CEO David Blittersdorf, said in a statement. Its a great symbol of hope for the future for addressing climate change.Founded in 2005, AllEarth has evolved over the years from a wind to solar provider. Blittersdorf made the decision moved the company from its core business, making residential-scale wind turbines, into the solar power market. Now, it has continued that evolution with its channel partners.

Today, with 25 employees, the plan is to continue its partnership with ins! tallers throughout the Northeast.
