Brad Pitt is rumoured to be receiving $7 million for his upcoming appearance as the new face of Chanel No. 5.

The actor is set to become the first man to promote the iconic fragrance, which was heavily endorsed by screen legend Marilyn Monroe.

It has been estimated by industry sources that the French house has already spent $10 million on advertising, and will pay the 'Moneyball' actor $7 million for his "services", according to WWD.

The new adverts featuring the Hollywood star will be rolled out in mid-October and will be displayed across TV and print. Brad will now join the fragrance's long list of female spokesmodels, which include Nicole Kidman, Johnny Depp's ex Vanessa Paradis and Audrey Tatou.

Andrea d'Avack, Chanel's president for fragrance and beauty, has said: "To keep a legend fresh, you always have to change its point of view. It is the first time we've had a man speaking about a women's fragrance.

"We think very much that the perfume is a seduction between a man, a woman and the perfume. No.5 is our leading fragrance, and we are willing to make the investment to keep it on that level."

Not long until it hits our TV screens then! We can't wait.
